Research Assistant Opportunity

We’re looking for a Student Research Assistant to support our project, “Exploring the relationship between mental representation and cognition in d/Deaf and hearing individuals”. In this study we are looking for recruiting a large sample of congenital or early d/Deaf individuals who use English or/ and British Sign Language to communicate.

About the role

  • This is a paid position (£13.99/h as net salary)

  • 6 hours a week for around 4 months (from April to July)

  • Flexible, independent work with regular support from the research team

Main tasks

  • Recruiting d/Deaf and hearing participants for an online study (via Prolific, Deaf charities, social media, and other advertising routes)

  • Responding to participant emails, carrying out prescreening, and directing eligible participants to the experiment

  • Basic data management and simple data analysis

Who we’re looking for

  • Someone with a genuine interest in cognitive psychology and quantitative research

  • Strong communication skills

  • Able to work independently and stay organised

Desirable experience

Because the project involves recruiting d/Deaf participants, Deaf awareness, BSL knowledge, and experience within the Deaf community would be very welcome. d/Deaf students are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is a great opportunity for Psychology students who want hands‑on research experience in a supportive environment, especially those interested in language, cognition, and deafness.
